Encarnation Peterson

Encarnation ?Connie? Peterson was born on the island of Kauai, Hawaii on September 27, 1927 to Louie and Georgina (Vegas) Matias. She attended school until the 8th grade when she went to work for the Pineapple Cannery for four years as a trimmer. Connie then worked as a waitress for Kauai Inn. Connie married Robert Lenz on December 16, 1961 in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii and later moved to Alaska where they lived for a time. The couple then moved to Osakis where Robert was from. After Robert?s death Connie moved to Alexandria and worked at Knute Nelson as a nurse?s aid. She met Glen Peterson who also worked there. The couple were married June 11, 1983 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. They lived in Miltona until Glen?s death. Connie then moved to Alexandria and then moved into Clearwater Suites in 2005. Connie enjoyed crocheting, gardening and being outdoors. She also liked keeping in touch with family. Connie died on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Clearwater Suites in Alexandria at the age of 80. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Matias of Independence, OR; sisters, Carmen (David) Abreu of Lawai, Kauai, HI, Antonia (Dan) Minnehan of Jacksonville, FL, and Georgina (Willis) Stock of Yakima, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Georgina; husbands, Robert Lenz and Glen Peterson; brothers, Louie and Ralph. A funeral service was held on Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria with Reverend Peter Reishus officiating. Interment was held in the Esther Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eastern Township, Ottertail County. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
