Ernest Anton Block was born on August 11, 1920 to William and Wilhelmina (Radtke) Block in Siren, WI. Ernest attended grade school and helped his family on the farm. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1940 and saw firsthand the effects of the bombing of Pearl Harbor at the beginning of WWII. Together they were united in marriage on November 27, 1947 in Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. To this union three children were born Shirley, Richard, and Scott. They lived together in the Northern suburbs including Coon Rapids and Fridley. Ernest painted and decorated homes for over 40 years in the Minneapolis area under his company Block Painting and Decorating. He retired at the young age of 85 years old. He worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family but still took time go fishing and spend time with his family. Ernest enjoyed hunting deer and ducks and of course fishing. He even learned to enjoy playing cards. Some of the fond memories of Ernest will be his answer to many questions by saying ?Yous Decide? or ?Yeah Maybe?. The smells of turkey, dressing, and all the fixings Ernest cooked for Thanksgiving and Christmas family meals and the way he enjoyed watching the birds in his yard.
