Esther Pauline (Tonsfeldt) Ripley of Alexandria passed away at age ninety-five on Thursday, February 12, 2015.
Esther was born in Le Mars, Iowa, on April 30, 1919, the fifth of seven children, to Hans and Julia (Kohler) Tonsfeldt.
Esther married Lyle Bernard Ripley on July 9, 1938, in Flandreau, South Dakota. Shortly before his death in 2013, Esther and Lyle celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
Esther and Lyle settled in Pipestone, Minnesota, and spent much of their life farming. After retirement, they relocated to Alexandria, where they owned the Sunny Hollow Resort on Lake Latoka and invested in real estate.
Esther enjoyed arts and crafts, letter writing, and baking Christmas cookies for her grandchildren. She always looked forward to meetings with her weekly coffee club. Above all, Esther loved spending time with family, especially at the holidays.
Esther is survived by her three sons Harlan (Beverly) Ripley of Loveland, Colorado, Roger Ripley of Alexandria, and Verdeen (Sheri) Ripley of Alexandria; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Esther is preceded in death by Lyle, her husband of 75 years, and her siblings Harold, Elenora (Jensen), Helen (Giever), Arthur, Warren and Allen.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pipestone, MN.
