Ethel Jane Erickson was born on October 15, 1923, in Alexandria, MN; the daughter of David and Matilda (Olsen) Jones. She attended grade school in the Alexandria school system and graduated from Central High School in Alexandria in 1941. On November 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Erickson and together they raised four children. They lived most of their married life in Alexandria, MN. The family also lived in Hastings, NE and Willmar, MN. Ethel retired from the 3M Company where she had worked for 15 years. Ethel raised her children with lots of love, kindness, and compassion. The time she spent with her children and grandchildren was very special to her. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and had a good sense of humor. Ethel spent much of her free time reading, completing crossword puzzles, word finds, and playing games with others. She was an avid sports fan, with the Twins being her favorite team. She was a generous woman who touched the lives of many people. Ethel will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Ethel J. Erickson died on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Douglas County Hospital at the age of 85. She is survived by her children Sharon (James) Hurley of Moorhead, MN; Gary (Beata) Erickson of Willmar, MN; Roberta (Greg) Habel of Moorhead, MN; Rebecca (Gary) Sans Souci of Willmar, MN; grandchildren Mitchell (Mindy) Sans Souci of St. Paul, MN; Ryan Hurley (fianc�e Kami Kosenko) of Raleigh, NC; Melissa Hurley of Las Vegas, NV; Angela Habel of Fargo, ND; Lisa (Tyson) Fairbanks of Alvord, TX; Allen (Rachel) Erickson of St. Cloud, MN; Bryan (Jeni) Erickson of St. Cloud, MN; great grandchildren Kylee and Eliana Erickson both of St. Cloud, MN; Isabella and Sofia Fairbanks both of Alvord, TX; sister Inez Okerlund of Alexandria; and sister-in-law Gladys Gerhardt of Barrett, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Kenneth Erickson. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, July 20, 2009 at the United Methodist Church with the Reverend Adrian Ledermann officiating. Lonnie Kriel played the organ and Heather Linder was the soloist. Interment was in the Zionsborg Cemetery near Evansville, MN. Casket Bearers were Ethel?s grandchildren Allen Erickson, Bryan Erickson, Lisa Fairbanks, Angela Habel, Melissa Hurley, Ryan Hurley, and Mitchell Sans Souci. Honorary Casket Bearers were Ethel?s great grandchildren Isabella Fairbanks, Sofia Fairbanks, Kylee Erickson, and Eliana Erickson.
