Evald (Curly) Carlson was born on March 21, 1945, in Glenwood, Minnesota the son of Kenneth and Mabel Carlson. He graduated from Graceville High School in 1963. After graduation Curly enlisted in the Marine Corp. He served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in August of 1967.
On October 25, 1966, Curly was united in marriage to Nancy Kinney. After their marriage the couple lived in North Carolina until he was discharged. They then moved to Clinton, Minnesota before settling down on the farm in Garfield. This is where they raised their two children and enjoyed country life. Curly worked at 3M for 33 years before retiring in 2003.
He loved living on the farm and took great joy in watching all the animals and feeding the birds. Curly loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. He enjoyed puttering around the farm fixing things and if you needed a helping hand he was always there.
Curly died unexpectantly on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. He is survived by the love of his life of 54 years, Nancy; two children: Wanda (Rich) Rogers, Todd (Amy) Carlson; five grandsons: Zach, Ben, Tyler, Jacob, Kole; four granddaughters: Kate , Mackenzie, Hannah, Faith; two great grandsons: Lennon & Soren; one brother, two sisters, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, brother-in-law, granddaughter, Megan.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021, 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a time of remembrance at 6:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 7, 2021, 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be live-streamed and recorded for family and friends to view from Curly’s obituary page on the Anderson Funeral Home website at 11:00 AM on Monday.
