OBITUARY

Evangeline Caroline Eleanor Lorenz Lund was born to Otto and Lillian (Jacobson) Lorenz on September 15, 1917. She was the oldest of three children. Evangeline went to country school and excelled in Declamatory. She was united in marriage to Norman Lund on June 12, 1938. Together they raised two daughters, Nancy and Mary.

Vangie lived through both World Wars. During the war years they farmed near Nelson, MN. She recalled those days when food was rationed, especially sugar, flour and coffee. She would gather with friends and one would bring sugar, another flour, …enough to bake a cake, so that would be a reason to have a party! Evangeline and Norman owned and operated a small coffee shop on Hawthorne Street, a bait shop, and an antiques shop which they opened in 1962.

For almost 30 years Vangie worked as a school cook for District 206. She loved to feed people. It was how she showed her love. Vangie cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her many nieces and nephews. They all have fond memories of receiving free bags of candy from her.

Vangie and Norman enjoyed traveling to antiques stores around the state. In her later years, Vangie spent winters in the California desert with family and she also enjoyed her trips to Mexico. She was a kind, caring, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved her.
