Faith Elaine was born on June 28, 1954, in Wells, Minnesota the daughter of Carl and Darlene (DePoppe) Schmidt. She grew up on a farm between Alden & Wells. At a young age Faith’s family took in four foster sisters who she cherished throughout the years. Faith graduated from Alden High School Class of 1972. She furthered her education at Austin Community College receiving her degree as an Assistant Occupational Therapist. After graduation she did her internship out in Los Angeles, CA at Rancho Las Amigos.
On July 4, 1988, Faith was united in marriage to Larry Soost in Las Vegas. After their marriage the couple lived in Wells where she worked at several nursing homes and hospitals as an Assistant Occupational Therapist. Faith and Larry decided to retire in the Carlos area. They bought a home in the country where Faith enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens – she had a true green thumb. During this time she continued working as a therapist at different nursing homes in Sauk Centre, Alexandria and Parkers Prairie. During their marriage the couple enjoyed several trips throughout the world which included Hawaii, Tokyo, Thailand, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas.
Faith will be remembered as a gentle, kind soul who loved to laugh and when you would hear her laughter it would make you smile. She also enjoyed cross stitch, doing crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and listening to music.
Faith died on Monday, May 27, 2024 with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband, Larry; children: Shane (Ashley Tolzmann) Cole, Meriah Cole; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; mom, Darlene; two sisters: Lori Creamer, Cheryl Schlosser; three foster sisters: Muriel, Linda, Deb.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Carl; sister, Paulette; foster sister, Paulie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home with a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Douglas County Hospice.
