Florence Bergquist

Florence Madeline Yokom Fellows Bergquist, 77, of Kensington MN passed Wednesday, June 6,2018 in Alexandria MN after a long illness.  She was born December 9, 1940 in Detroit MI to Victor and Mary (Lees) Yokom.  She married Samuel Barton Fellows in 1959 in Mount Clemens MI and Denis Joseph Bergquist in 1982 in Miami FL.  Florence graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in 1958, received a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan in 1971 and completed her Masters in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio TX in 1975.  She served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves from October 1973 until July 1980.  In addition to being active in her community and her church, Florence belonged to the Kensington Lions Club, the 50+ Club and help organize the Kensington Whist Club.

Florence is survived by her daughters Jo (Fellows) Reed and Mary Bergquist and her sons Paul Fellows, Denis Bergquist, Donald Bergquist and Charles Bergquist along with their spouses and families.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Mary; both husbands, Samuel and Denis; and her brother David Yokom.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Runestone Catholic Church in Kensington, MN on Sunday June 10th from 3 – 6 pm and at 1pm on Monday June 11th followed by Mass at 2pm.   Due to numerous allergies in the family, it is requested that visitors and attendees please refrain from wearing cologne, perfume, and other unnecessary scents.
