Florence Regina Swenson Libke, 87, Rapid City, SD., died Tuesday September 16, 2008 at the Fountain Springs Health Care Facility. She was born October 28, 1920 in Lake Henry, MN, to Katherine and George Kracker. At age 5 she moved to Glenwood, MN, and attended school until she married Clairmont Swenson at age 17 in Sisseton, SD, on September 10, 1938. She and Clairmont lived in Glenwood, Anoka, Coon Rapids and retired in Osakis, MN.. Clairmont passed away in 1977. While living in Coon Rapids she successfully completed her GED and was a homemaker active in her church and Busy Bee's. After Clairmonts death she lived in Brandon, MN, and worked as a caretaker/housekeeper until she married Harold Libke in June of 1980. She lived on the farm with Harold until his death in 2001 and then moved into Brandon where she lived until 2004 when she moved to Rapid City, SD, to be closer to family. While in Brandon she was a member of TOPS, Grace Lutheran Circle and church, and a Whisk card club. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, cards and reading. Florence is survived by three sons, Jimmie Swenson and his wife Esther, Sauk Centre, MN; Chuck Swenson and his wife Karen, Rapid City, SD.; Steve Swenson Sr. and his wife Ruth, Corpus Christi, TX.; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and George Kracker; a brother, a sister, her two husbands, a son Eddie Swenson and one grandson, Steve Swenson, Jr. Visitation is Monday September 22, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon from 12:30 to 2:00 pm with the funeral at 2:00 pm and internment to follow at St. Ann's Cemetery in Brandon, MN. A luncheon will be served after the burial at Grace Lutheran Church. Memorial's in her name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 7, Brandon, MN 56315.
