Florence McClintock

Florence McClintock was born on February 11, 1905 in Brandon, MN to Joseph J. & Mary (Butula) Lorsung. Florence passed away March 19, 2009 at Knute Nelson Home at the age of 104. Florence was the postmaster at the Brandon Post Office for nineteen years in the late 1930's and early 1940's. After moving to Seattle, WA she worked at Boeing Aircraft during World War II. Florence married Fred L. McClintock at St. James Cathedral in Seattle on Oct. 3, 1947. They later moved to Sacramento, CA where Florence was employed with the California Department of Motor Vehicles from 1964 to 1973. Her husband died on March 2, 1960. Florence moved to Alexandria, MN in 1997 and lived at the Nelson Gables. In 2005 she moved to the Knute Nelson Home until her death. Her sister, Dorothy (Sr. Beata) said of Florence "she was very outgoing and consequently was well known in Brandon and the surrounding little towns that did not have post offices". At Nelson Gables and Knute Nelson she was known for her sense of humor, her feistiness, love of music and fun for her caregivers. Many thanks and blessings to both homes for all the wonderful care and love given to Florence in the last twelve years. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Fred McClintock; her parents; and the following siblings: sisters, Elsie Kapphahn, Helen Hoffman, Irene Raddatz, Adeline ?Annie? Finnin and Dorothy (Sister Beata, OSF) Lorsung; and brothers, Walter ?Jumbo? Lorsung and James"Jimmy? Lorsung. Florence is survived by her niece, Betty Fischer of Dearborn, MI, first cousin, Chris Lorsung, second cousin & advocate, Marlene Lorsung, and other second cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at St. Mary?s Church in Alexandria. Rev. Fr. Steve Binsfeld was the celebrant. Interment was at St. Ann's Cemetery in Brandon, MN. Pallbearers included Bob Lorsung, Vernon Lorsung, Chad Lorsung, Richard Lorsung, Donald Lorsung and Chris Lorsung. Honorary pallbearers included, Marcella Thoennes, Evelyn Lanners, Evelyn Roers, Delene Dentinger, Sister Patrice, OSF, Sister Blanche, OSF and Sister Sharon, OSF. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Franciscan Sisters in Little Falls. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
