Florence Roth

February 16, 1910 — February 16, 1910

Florence Ida Caroline Roth was born on February 16, 1910, to Herman and Ida (Fiss) Beulke of Spring Hill Township, Minnesota. She was the fifth of seven children. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carlos, MN and graduated from 8th grade at Miltona District #55. When Florence was old enough she got a waitress job at a private club on Lake Miltona, working for several seasons. On June 4, 1931, she married John Roth and moved to the Roth farm near Carlos, living there for 72 years until January 2004 when she moved to Clearwater Suites Assisted Living Center in Alexandria. After suffering a cerebral hemorrhage in 2004 God spared her life and she became a resident of Bethany Home in Alexandria. Florence?s faith in her Lord was her strength throughout all her life, especially after being a widow for 52 years. She was a constant prayer warrior for all of her family. She spent her life doing things for others by sharing her homemade poppy seed strudel and knitted dishcloths. She was an active member of Trinity (Immanuel) Lutheran Church all her life. She served in LWML, Altar Care, Choir and Ladies Aid serving on the Kitchen Committee and sewing quilts and lap robes for Lutheran World Relief. She also served on the Church Fair Booth for many years. Being outdoors was her favorite pastime, spending many hours in her flower and vegetable garden, canning and freezing much of her harvest. On Wednesday, February 10, 2010 Florence fell asleep in the arms of Jesus at Bethany Home at the age of ninety-nine years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1958; her parents, five brothers: Carl, Henry, Frank, Herman, and Clarence; one sister, Ida Ziesmer. Florence is survived by her two sons: Maynard Roth of Mahnomen, MN, James Roth (Carlyn) of Sterling Heights, MI; two granddaughters, five great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Ann Beulke; many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Monday, February 15, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carlos. Rev. Robert Petersen was the officiant. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
