Florence Thomas

OBITUARY Florence Annette (Kyhl) Thomson was born on June 29, 1916 near Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Holm) Kyhl. She graduated from Southam High School in 1933 and then married Walter Thomson on October 17, 1937 in Devils Lake, ND. To this union four children were born: Karen, Kent, Kyhl, and Kevin. Florence and her family farmed near Southam, ND from 1941-1961. They moved into Devils Lake, ND and purchased the 2-Stop Caf� in 1961. Florence and Walter later purchased the Night Owl Lounge, which they owned for several years before they retired. After Walter?s death in November of 1984, Florence continued to live in Devils Lake. Florence moved to Alexandria to live with her son Kent in 2010. Florence became a wonderful cook over the years making sure everyone she hosted had plenty of good food to eat. She worked hard on the farm with her husband and at their restaurants, but she always had time for her children. Florence had opinions on many subjects in a polite and courteous manor. Some of her favorite things to do were shopping, playing darts, and enjoying life. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Florence A. Thomson died on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Lakes Area Assisted Living at the age of 95 years old. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Grant) Eidsness of West Fargo, ND; sons Kent (Dianne) Thomson of Alexandria; Kyhl (Marlene) Thomson of Billings, MT; Kevin (Pam) Thomson of Green Leaf, WI; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter Thomson; grandson Kane Thomson; daughter-in-law Kay Thomson; brothers Adelbert ?Bud? Kyhl and Lloyd ?Babe? Kyhl. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 2PM at Peace Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, ND with the Reverend Lyle Belleque officiating. Interment will be in the Devils Lake City Cemetery. Casket Bearers are Rory Eidsness, Kyhl Thomson, Kory Thomson, Ryan Eidsness, Kurt Thomson, Cole Smedsrud, and Bryce Bowser. Honorary Casket Bearers are Roxanne Smedsrud, Kris Zell, Rhonda Bowser, Sarah Thomson, Shelby Thomson, and Stephanie Thomson and all of Florence?s great grandchildren.
