Florence Louise Westrom was born in Lien Township, MN on September 28, 1923 the daughter of Hugo and Elin (Oakstrom) Lindblom. She was baptized and confirmed at Mission Covenant Church. She attended school in Grant County.
Florence was united in marriage on September 29, 1945 at Wennersborg Lutheran Church to the love of her life Melvin Westrom. They lived in Alexandria where they raised their daughter DeAnn. Florence was a beautician and had a beauty shop out of her home for many years. She liked gardening, sewing, and playing cards with friends and family. Florence volunteered her time at Calvary Lutheran Church and other community organizations in the area. She also enjoyed socializing with her friends at Calvary Lutheran Church.
Florence loved her family and especially liked to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known to bake the best rhubarb crisp, chocolate chip cookies and homemade bread. She enjoyed the helpful staff at Prairie Senior Cottages and always said “Tack så mycket” (thank you very much in Swedish). She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Florence L. Westrom died on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the Prairie Senior Cottages in Alexandria at the age of 92 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin Westrom, sisters Doris Berg and Gloria Aanerud, six brothers Wallace, Oliver, Willard, Elmer, Harold, and Robert Lindblom. She is survived by her loving daughter DeAnn Bernardy of Alexandria; grandsons Brent (Sarah) Bernardy of Brandon, MN and Josh (Tina) Bernardy of Alexandria; great grandchildren Sophia Bernardy of Brandon, Zackary, Orion, and Sorsha Bernardy all of Alexandria; brother Leroy (Constance) Lindblom of Luverne; sister-in-law Alice Ellis of Alexandria; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Reverend Marilee Bergerson officiating. Interment was in the Wennersborg Lutheran Cemetery near Kensington, MN.
Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11AM at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Wennersborg Lutheran Cemetery.
