Florence Woolliscroft

Florence M. Woolliscroft, age 99, died on August 28, 2011 at Clare Bridge Senior Living facility in Ann Arbor, MI. Prior to moving to Michigan in 2003 she had been a long time resident of Alexandria. Florence, the eldest of five children, was born July 23, 1912 in Elizabeth, MN to Rudolph and Lydia (Boese) Borck. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John?s Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. She married Oscar Woolliscroft on August 3, 1949. They were blessed with one son James. As a young women Florence managed a bakery in Park Rapids and then managed National Tea grocery stores in Carleton and Alexandria during WWII. Following her marriage she worked with her husband in their insurance and real estate office. Florence was devoted to her family and many friends. She loved children, delighting in her grandchildren and the many children she taught in Sunday School at First Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. Her graciousness, warmth and laughter are cherished memories for everyone she touched. She is survived by her son James (Elizabeth) of Saline, MI, grandsons Michael (Tracey) of Ann Arbor, MI, Matthew of Austin, TX, Marc of Ann Arbor, MI, granddaughter Kate of Ann Arbor, MI, sister Marian (Norman) Gorder of Mahnomen, MN and brother Rudolph of Fremont, NE. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Oscar in 1980, her parents, brother Arthur and sister Evelyn Toft. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 2, at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Church in Alexandria with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Darryl Knappen will officiate. Interment will follow at Kinkaid Cemetery. Please direct memorials to the charity of your choice.
