Floyd Ernest Wilkins was born on May 15, 1918 on a farm near Lake Crystal, MN to Ernest and Laura (Hughes) Wilkins. When he was eight years old the family moved to Lake Crystal where Floyd went to school and worked for various farmers and contractors. Floyd served in the U.S. Army for three years and spent the third year in Germany in the Battle of the Bulge with the Combat Engineers. Floyd was united in marriage to Evelyn Hansen in 1936 and was blessed with four children. He formed his own plumbing company in 1945. He started working for Minnesota Natural Gas Company in 1953 as a service man. In 1961, Floyd was transferred to Alexandria as a supervisor of operation. Floyd retired on December 30, 1980. After retirement Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. Floyd died on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis at the age of 94. He is survived by his son, Donald Wilkins of Alexandria; daughter, Diane Tillman of North Mankato; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews and special friend LaRayne Johnson. Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; parents, Ernest and Laura; infant son, Kenneth; daughter, Darlene; and three sisters and one brother. A funeral service was held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Lake Crystal, MN with Reverend Scott Jennings officiating. Music was provided by organist, Marcelyn Pedersen and Violist, Emily Wilkins. Interment was in Lake Crystal Cemetery in Lake Crystal. Casket bearers were Troy Tillman, Christopher Tillman, David Archerd, Brian Archerd, Ed Wilkins and Tom Wilkins. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria www.andersonfuneral.net
