Gerald “Gary” LeRoy St. Martin was born on April 17, 1941, in Herman, Minnesota, the son of LeRoy and Veronica (Corcoran) St. Martin. He attended Herman High School and graduated in 1959.
On May 8, 1965, Gary was united in marriage to Diana Burnside at the Church of Nativity in Fargo, ND. The couple was blessed with three daughters – Rhonda, Bobbi and Jodi – and moved to Alexandria in 1971 to raise their family. Gary owned and operated Interstate Auto Glass until his retirement in 1987. Gary and Diana celebrated 50 years of marriage last year.
Gary loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed taking road trips with them, whether across the state or across the country. He especially loved attending the sporting events of his grandchildren, of whom he was so proud. He was also the family's do-it-all handyman, and took great pleasure in helping them with fixes and projects. Outside of his family, Gary's passion was golfing and the friends with whom he shared it.
Gary died on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Diana; daughters Rhonda (Mike) Boesen of Alexandria, Bobbi (Aaron) Kranz of Paynesville, Jodi (Brad) Johnson of Alexandria; nine grandchildren: Nathan, Nicholas, Ryan, Alex, Patrick, Joshua, Ethan, Sidney and Erica; four brothers: Milton (Koko), Paul, Charles (Sonja), Joseph (Cindy); four sisters: Elaine Vitullo, Joan Clark, LeAnn (Warren) Michaelis, Colleen (Patrick) Holland; and many nieces and nephews.
