Gary Grant Schultz was born October 16, 1944 in Alexandria, MN to Willmar and Lillian (Gehrke) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley. Gary attended District 28 country school where Mrs. Tyler helped teach him and Central High School where he worked with Mrs. Trenney.
Gary started living with his Prairie Community Service family in 1976. He worked at the cafeteria at Lincoln Elementary School for many years and at the Alexandria Opportunity Center working a wide variety of jobs. Gary retired from the AOC in 2009.
Gary loved watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, especially when he got to the Twins games. He enjoyed collecting, watching movies, fishing, and competing in the Special Olympics in bowling and swimming. Gary loved his family, especially his family at Prairie Community Services. He also had very strong faith and loved his Lord and Savior.
Gary went to be with his Lord on Friday, January 23, 2015 at his home at the age of 70. He is survived by his sister, Iris (Norman) Stark; brothers, Leon (Caroline) Schultz and Keith (Karen) Schultz all of Leaf Valley; and many nieces and nephews. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Willmar and Lillian.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley with Reverends Dennis Angland and William Moeller officiating. Interment was in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery.
