Gayle Skramstad

Gayle Yvonne Redden was born in Pierre, South Dakota, on April 16, 1955, the first of three children. She moved onto a farm in Brooten, Minnesota in 1968. She worked hard at home and did well in school finishing second in her class in 1973. Then she ventured to Alexandria to take accounting at Alexandria Tech. She met Roger Skramstad at school in November and it took only three weeks of dating until they were engaged. They were married on February 14, 1975. To this union four daughters were born: Josie, Jennifer, Jessica and Jacki. She was very proud of her girls and loved them with all her heart. Gayle was recently employed at Douglas County Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. Gayle especially loved spending time with her grandchildren: Alyssa, Kylee, Callie, and McKenna ? they will miss her greatly. Gayle died unexpectantly on Monday, February 23, 2009, at the Douglas County Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Roger; daughters: Josie & Corey Birch of Fargo, ND, Jennifer & Bryan Klassen of Starbuck, MN, Jessica & Jeremy Glawe of Brandon, MN, Jacki & Don Schlittenhardt of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren: Alyssa & Kylee Klassen, Callie & McKenna Glawe; father, Kenneth Redden; brother, Bernie & Diane Redden of Knoxville, IA; sister, Kathy & Roger Eckert of Hill City, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her mother. Memorial services were held on Friday, February 27, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church in Alexandria with Rev. Wade Meyer officiating.
