George Lundberg

George Henry Lundberg, a quiet man of gentle strength and spirit never faltered in his lifelong work as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He died on May 20, 2013, at the age of 71. He was born August 4, 1941, in Eagle Lake Township to Phillip and Anna (Huggett) Lundberg. He was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church, Ashby MN. George was born and raised on a dairy farm. In high school he was active in sports, music, drama, and FFA. After graduating from high school, he served in the Army for three years at Nelligan Air Base in Germany and 3 years of inactive duty. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed by Berg Motors in Fargo ND and Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. On September 2, 1966, he married Sara Hausauer at St Patrick?s Church in Seattle. He continued to work for Boeing until 1976, when he moved his family to Alexandria MN. He was employed by NAPA and Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts until 1986 when he started a Carquest store, and which he owned until 2003. George?s many gifts found expression in his devotion to his family. As a husband, father, and grandfather he was generous, patient, and fun. He was a member of Church of St Mary and sang in the choir. In his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling, woodworking, outdoor activities, biking, dancing?and the solace of nature. He is survived by his wife Sara, and children, Lori Lundberg; Alison (Matt) Viles; Phillip (Kristen) Lundberg; and grandchildren, Henry and Zane Viles; Ethan, Sara, Anna Lundberg; sisters, Jane (Calmer) Nelson and Phyllis (Carlton) Paulson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Anna Lundberg and Raymond and Loretta Hausauer, father-in-law and mother-in-law. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 23, at Anderson Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 PM, with prayer service at 4:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Church of St Mary on May 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM, with visitation one hour before. Interment will be at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Alexandria.
