George David Moon was born on July 4, 1935 in Tracy, Minnesota, the son of M.G. and LaVonnie (Johnson) Moon. He graduated from West High School in Minneapolis. In June, 1957, George enlisted into the United States Navy where he became an electronics technician. He was honorably discharged in 1961. He married and had three children, Don, Sally and Janice.
In 1966 he moved back to Nelson and bought a farm. He worked as a supervisor at the local telephone company for several years and as a farmer for forty plus years. He married Joy O’Brien, his high school sweetheart in 1982 and together they enjoyed 37 years of marriage. In retirement he remained active with farming, gardening, machine work and traveling. He was on the city council, active member of the Nelson Mens Club, and president of the Nelson Cemetery Association. George loved adventure… traveling, his motorcycle and spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
On Tuesday February 26, 2019 George passed away. He is survived by his wife Joy Moon, children Don (Jennifer), Sally, and Janice (James), stepchildren, Michael (Dottie), Jackie (Stu), and Paul, and 7 grandchildren.
