He worked hard and was involved in the community by being an Eagle Scout and a member of the Shriners, Masons, VFW and the American Legion. He and his family were also members of First Lutheran Church. George loved the retail clothing industry and truly made it a family business by teaching his children the ins and outs of operating a small business. George made the time he spent with each of his children special. He always enjoyed all of the holidays with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When George was able to get away from his business he enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and fishing trips in Canada. George and Leona also were able to spend their winters in Arizona for a number of years. After semi retiring he sold his store to his daughters Pam and Kim. Together the daughters continue to run the family business at the Viking Plaza Mall in Alexandria. George was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa.
