George Schouweiler

George Eldon Schouweiler, age 88, died August 31, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

George was born at Rural Morris MN on October 15, 1932 to Joseph and Hannah (Peterson) Schouweiler. He was the second of three sons. The family lived near Morris until 1939 when they came to Douglas county. He attended school at District #3 and Alexandria High School. He was a longtime member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church.

After high school he worked the family farm a few years then spent two years in the Army. After the Army, he wed Mary Louise Marusak and continued his education at the UM in Minneapolis. They spent five years in Iowa before returning to the Minneapolis area, then another five years before returning to the Douglas County. He worked at Douglas Machine Company for 24 years.

Dollhouse building, model aircraft building and amateur radio were his most satisfying hobbies.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, and four children. A daughter Mary Ann (husband Dan is passed) of Waite Park, son Brian (wife Sandi is passed) of Blaine, son Mark with Joleen of Alexandria and daughter Barbara with friend Pat of St. Cloud. His ten grandchildren include: Jacob, Mary, Scott, Tonia, Tara, Jake, Elizabeth, Patrick, Jack and Molly; several great grandchildren and a brother Lloyd of Alexandria.

George is preceded in death by his parents and one infant son Michael a brother, Gene.

Funeral services will be September 11, 2021, 11:00 AM  at Anderson Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at Saint Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.
