Georgia Gerth

d. August 2, 2017

Georgia Rose Rasmussen was born August 23, 1924 in Dent, Minnesota to Walter Lewis and Almina Rasmussen, the youngest of six children. She spent her early years in the Pelican Rapids and Fergus Falls region, graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1942.

On October 1, 1950, Georgia united in marriage with Godferd Orlando Gerth and their union was blessed with two children, Steven Allen (1953) and Sharon Ann (1954). Her life’s journey took her from Fergus Falls to Washington, D.C. to Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston and finally home, to the Lakes region, to Alexandria, Minnesota, where she lived the last 27 years of her life.

Georgia was blessed with many special friends throughout her life, as she served God in her vocations as wife, mother and congregation member. She took particular interest in, and responsibility for, her church libraries, notably at St Peter’s Lutheran (Minneapolis) and at St. Paul Lutheran in Alexandria.

Georgia passed this life on August 2, 2017, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She leaves to join her husband Godferd, her parents and her four sisters and a brother (Maryann, Rhoda, Dorothy, Virginia and Walter). Georgia is survived by her children Steven (Jocelyn) Gerth and Sharon Martin, eight grandchildren: Caledonia Gerth, Hannah Gerth, Logan (Angus) Krebs and Everett Gerth; Steven, Michael, Peter and Daniel Terry and two great-granddaughters (Leah and Georgia Krebs). Also, many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant, Georgia Rose (Rasmussen) Gerth.
