OBITUARY
Gerald Arnold Golembeck was born on August 5, 1931 one of three children to Elmer and Helen (Lease) Golembeck of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. Jerry graduated from Sauk Rapids High School and then joined the Air Force, serving as a cryptographer. Jerry then attended Illinois Institute of Technology where he studied industrial engineering. On October 16, 1954, Jerry married Joan Waszak at the St. Isidore Catholic Church, in Blue Island, Illinois.
Jerry was a quiet man who applied his engineering expertise in the mattress industry. During his working career, he traveled around the word, especially enjoying time spent in Africa. He was passionate about his work, earning patents to his name and retired as vice president of King Koil mattress company. After retirement, Jerry and Joan moved to Alexandria.
When he was not working, Jerry loved to hunt and fish. He loved his family and always provided for them. He had great pride in his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed taking them fishing and hunting. Although he was a simple man, he was a good father and husband, who will be dearly missed.
Jerry died at his home on May 27, 2016 at the age of eighty-four years. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Joan; daughter, Sandy Korth and husband, Mike; son, James Golembeck and wife, Kay; grandchildren, Andrew Korth, Matthew Golembeck, Rebecca Millard, Thomas Golembeck, Laura Korth and John Golembeck; great-grandson, Gabriel Korth; sister, Joan VanOrder; brother, Ronald Golembeck. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Helen Golembeck.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria at 1:00 PM. A was held the day of the service at the church.
