Gerald Lee Grenier

May 10, 1948 — April 25, 2024

Gerald Lee Grenier, 75, of Alexandria, formerly of Kent, passed on to his heavenly home on April 25, 2024, at Bethany on the Lake due to complications from his battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Gerald "Gerry" Grenier was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota on May 10, 1948 to Milton and Wilma (Warner) Grenier and grew up in Kent, Minnesota. He attended grade school in Kent and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1966, where he participated in football and wrestling. He attended NDSCS in Wahpeton, North Dakota for two years and went on to graduate from Moorhead State College in 1970 with a degree in Business Education. He started his teaching career at Granite Falls High School, where he remained for five years before taking a position in the Business Department at Alexandria Technical College and taught for a total of 39 years.

Gerald loved to spend the fall season hunting, summers at West McDonald Lake fishing and swimming, as well as both playing and watching sports. He loved growing up in Kent, where he enjoyed spending weekends and would later become the caretaker of his elderly parents. Gerry was very friendly and welcoming to visitors, loved to cook, and always had a joke or two.

He is survived by his brother, Curt (Diane) Grenier; sisters: Margie (Dale) Basehore and Diane Nelson; plus several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Mark.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany on the Lake for providing excellent care, Douglas County Hospice, Zeke the Medi-Van driver, Alomere Health Saff, and all who took time to visit Gerald during his illness. He is now reunited with his three black labs: Loma, Flex, and Landa. He is also having coffee with those who went before him, and of course swapping stories. Rest in peace, brother. You are now pain free and our angel. We will miss you.

A memorial service for the public will be held at the Kent Hall in Kent, Minnesota on June 1 starting at 9:30 AM with inurnment to follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Kent.
