Gerald Eugene Jerzak (Jerry) was born on July 4, 1929 in Ivanhoe, Minnesota to Joseph and Mary (Chlubkoviak) Jerzak. He was the youngest of 10 children. Jerry attended and graduated from Ivanhoe High School in 1948. He still holds many records in football and track. In 1952, Jerry joined the Army and spent one year in Korea and had 22 years of Service with the National Guards. In January 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dorene (Madden). Following their marriage, he attended Dunwoody College and upon completion did body and fender work. In 1959, he started working for MN DOT in Marshall, MN. In 1966, he transferred to Morris, MN to take the position of Sign Supervisor. After 31 years with MN DOT he retired in 1990.
Jerry was always playing practical jokes and so full of mischief!! He also enjoyed fishing hunting, horseshoe, football, baseball, camping but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his children: Daniel (James Renner) of Brooklyn Center, Lynn (Mark) Woolridge of Morris, Philip (Sandy Gonzales) of Algona, WA; Jeffry of Coon Rapids, Kari (Troy) Bott; sis, Helen Miller of Alexandria; grandchildren: Luke, Rachel, Amy Jo, Ellary, Jared, Andy, Abel, Mason; sisters: Deanie “Rita” Fehrman, Eleanor Roberts.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Dorene, his parents, sisters: Agnes, Anne, Evelyn and Dorothy; and brothers: Edwin, Walter and Irwin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. Military honors by the American Legion Post 87 & VFW Post 936 and Minnesota National Guard Funeral Honors. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
