Gerald Vogt

Gerald Lovell Vogt was born on March 13, 1947, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota the son of Lovell and Alice (Hagan) Vogt. He graduated in 1965 from Jefferson High School in Alexandria. He continued his education at Alexandria Technical College receiving a degree as a machinist. This is where he also met his wife of 40 years Peggy (Johnson) Vogt. Jerry enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1967 and was discharged in 1973. Jerry and Peggy were united in marriage on June 28, 1969. To this union two children were born Ryan and Amy. Jerry spent thirty-five years in the boat and marine industry calling on dealers in a five state area. He was a member of the Alexandria Area Eagles Club 3063, the American Legion and Past President of the Alexandria Jaycees. Jerry and Peggy were members of First Lutheran Church for 40 years. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, family vacations and being with family and friends. Gerald died peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the age of 63.. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; two children: Ryan Vogt of St. Cloud, Amy Vogt of Alexandria, grandson, Atticus Waters; brother, Dan (Cindy) Vogt; great aunt, Marie Jacobs of St. Peter; nieces: Mackenzie, Melissa (Shawn) Dieken their children, Hudson & Delany; nephew, Michael (Brooke) Vogt their son, Mason. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Lovell and Alice; grandparents, aunts and uncles. A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at First Lutheran Church with Reverend John Peshek officiating. Music was provided by organist, Randy Morken and soloist, Roger Riley. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Michael Vogt, Shawn Dieken, Mark Johnson, Dean Hormann, Danny Hormann, and Mike Earsley. Honorary casket bearers were Jerry?s family and friends. Military Honors were provided by the Alexandria American Legion Post 87, VFW Post 936 and the Minnesota National Honor Guard. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
