Gerhart Noetzelman

Gerhart John Noetzelman was born on July 5, 1910, in Leaf Valley Township the son of Carl and Elizabeth Noetzelman. He attended country school in Leaf Valley through the 8th grade. Gerhart was united in marriage to Viola Gehrke on September 27, 1939 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley Township. To this union five children were born: Myron, Georgie Ann, Nylin, Bruce and Bryan. As a family they worked hard on the farm but would enjoy their trips to different states every summer and visiting friends and family on Sundays. Gerhart?s passion was his music. He loved playing the drums and was a part of several bands over a span of 57 years. In his early years he played a couple of times with Lawrence Welk. He was very involved at St. James Lutheran Church as Treasurer and council member. He was also a fireman for Leaf Valley and was on the local school board. Mr. Noetzelman died on Thursday, June 14, 2012. He is survived by his children: Myron of South Effington, Georgie Ann Bright of Champlin, MN, Bryan of Maple Grove, Bruce of Alexandria; daughter-in-law, Gloria Noetzelman of Spring Lake Park, MN; five grandchildren: Dawn (Chad) Orgon, Ryan (Lara) Noetzelman, Aaron Noetzelman, Christopher Noetzelman, Brent Noetzelman; three great grandchildren: Cole Orgon, Jack Noetzelman, Millie Noetzelman. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 18, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in South Effington. Burial was at the church cemetery.
