Gladys Berger

Gladys Jane Berger was born on November 4, 1914 in Jackson County, Minnesota the daughter of William and Norah (Miller) Pierce. Gladys was united in marriage to Louis (Luke) Berger December 12, 1931. They farmed near Lakefield, Reading and Lake Benton, MN. In 1963 they moved to Lake Geneva Christian Center as resident caretakers for 13 years. They then moved to Fourth Avenue East in Alexandria. Gladys was employed at Bethany Home as a Nurses Aide for several years. In 2003 Gladys became a resident of Knute Nelson Memorial Home. Gladys died on Sunday May 25, 2008 at the age of 93. She is survived by her son Bill (Joyce) Berger of Garfield, daughters Betty (Dick) Gowan of Haines City, FL, Phyllis (Jim) Baker of Alexandria, Nancy Wallin of Louisville, KY, Margaret (Peggy) Berger at Dana Point, CA, 25 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Louis (2002), daughter Carol Johnstone, 3 grandchildren, her parents, and 9 brothers and sisters. A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the Living Waters Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jim Resa officiating. Musicians were Mary Anderson and Doug and Debbie Holmgren. Interment was in Kinkead Cemetery. Casket Bearers were Jamie Boelter, David Baker, Lance Berger, Roger Wallin, Doug Stewart, Wendy Loween, Lynn Kovin and Grant Rajdl. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
