Gladys Krentz

Gladys Elizabeth Kosel was born September 11, 1918 in Sanborn, MN, the daughter of August and Lillie (Neeb) Kosel. She was raised near Sanborn and attended country school. Following her schooling Gladys worked as a nanny and housekeeper. On January 18, 1938 Gladys was united in marriage to Erwin Krentz. The couple helped farm the Krentz home farm for the next three years. Gladys and Erwin then moved to Morgan, MN where they purchased a farm. They continued to farm the home farm. The couple was blessed with three children, Lois, Ralph and Derald. In 1952 the family moved to a farm at Kensington, MN. In 1991 Erwin and Gladys retired from farming and moved into Kensington. After Erwin?s death in 1998 Gladys continued living in Kensington until moving to Benson, MN in February 2008. Gladys was always active in her church and her church circle. Gladys and Erwin loved to go dancing every Saturday night. Spending time with their friends was a great joy to them. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Very important to Gladys was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. On Sunday, November 30, 2008 Gladys died at the age of ninety years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Krentz; and two brothers, Merlin and Llewelyn Kosel. Gladys is survived by her three children, Derald Krentz and wife, Theresa, of Osseo, MN, Ralph Krentz and wife, Mary, of Bloomington, MN and Lois Krienke of Benson, MN; eleven grandchildren, Jill Schluessler, Lori Razink, Lisa Stark, Susan Roers, Wayne Krienke, Michael Krentz, Jason Krentz, Christian Krentz, Jeremy Krentz, Jake Krentz and Anthony Krentz; nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Delores Knoll of Groton, SD; two sisters-in-law, Darlene and Doris Kosel, both of Springfield, MN; and several nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the First Lutheran Church in Kensington. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Casket bearers include all of Gladys? grandsons. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the church. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN.
