Gladys Mae (Rohloff) Vogt was born on May 30, 1931 in Evansville Township to Julius and Alma (Braun) Rohloff. She graduated from Evansville High School and moved to Minneapolis where she met Rodney Vogt.
On January 1, 1954, Gladys was united in marriage to Rodney Vogt at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Evansville. The couple moved to Willmar where the couple was blessed with a daughter, Debra and son, Michael. The family moved to Aurora for a few years before moving to Melby. Rodney started Vogt's Electric and Gladys took care of all the bookwork for the company. They later moved to Evansville where they were blessed with two more sons, James and Ronald. The family moved to Alexandria, where they lived for 14 years before moving to Colorado. Gladys worked at Colorado National Bank for a time, then later at a jewelry store and a furniture store as a bookkeeper. After Rodney's retirement the couple returned back to Alexandria.
Gladys enjoyed shopping and liked nice things, the flowers in the spring, going for a boat cruise and traveling. She loved having company with her family and friends, but especially having children around.
Gladys died on Monday, September 26, 2016 at her home at the age of 85. She is survived by her husband, Rodney Vogt of Alexandria; daughter, Debbie Guenther of Garfield; sons, Michael Vogt of Alexandria, Jimmy (fiancé, Paula Fletcher) Vogt of Garfield, and Ronnie Vogt of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Jared, Jenna and Jade Guenther, and Cary and Camille Vogt; and two great granddaughters; sisters, Rosanne Bergman of Hawthorne, CA and Marian Johnson of Fergus Falls; and many nieces and nephews. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Alma; sister, Ethel Olson, and brothers, Edwin, Ted, Carl and infant brother, James Rohloff.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will be Mound Grove Cemetery in Evansville.
