Glenn Bearson

Glenn Douglas Bearson III was born in Alexandria, Minnesota on October 28, 1984, the son of Jeanne (Splitstoser) Bearson and Glen Bearson Jr. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church, attended schools in Alexandria, and graduated from Long Prairie High School in 2003 where the majority of his time was spent in the auto shop re-building and repairing vehicles with his friends. Fulfilling a childhood dream, in August 2003, Glenn enlisted in the United States Air Force. He completed basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, and was stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX, when he was blessed with the birth of his pride and joy, his son, Adrian Douglas. Glenn was also stationed at Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM and Hill AFB in Salt Lake City, UT with mulitple TDY?s throughout the states and Guam. Most recently, Glenn served for one year at Kunsan AFB in Korea, and was beginning his third year at Kadena AFB on Okinawa, Japan. At the time of his death Glenn held the rank of Staff Sergeant and was posthumously awarded a Commendation Medal and promoted to the rank of Tech Sergeant. During his military service he was decorated with the following awards: Global War on Terrorism, Korean Defense Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Small Arm Expert Rifle, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon, Air Force Legacy Service Award, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, and the Meritorious Unit Award. Glenn was a civilian private pilot and an amazing mechanic who enjoyed rebuilding, supercharging and modifying his vehicles, building and flying RC airplanes, flying Cessna?s over Okinawa, target shooting, and spending time with his friends cruising the Oki coastline on his motorcycle. From across the world, through the use of phone and video chat, Glenn was his brother, Billy?s ?motorhead buddy? as they worked on engines together and talked shop for hours. He will be remembered as a great friend, an incredible brother, an amazing son, and most importantly an extremely proud Daddy. Glenn died on January 18, 2013, on Okinawa, Japan, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He is survived by his son Adrian Douglas Bearson of Long Prairie, Christy Bearson of Okinawa, parents Jeanne Bearson of Morris and Glen Bearson, Jr. of Alexandria, sister Heidi Jo (Corey) Fisher of Arlington, brother Billy Bearson of Morris; grandparents William Splitstoser of Menahga, Mary Jo (Marvin) Brown of Hancock, and Glenn Sr and Mary Ann Bearson, of Carlos. Also surviving are nephews and niece Landon, Nolan and Gretta Fisher and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Minnesota, with Rev. Greg Billberg officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013, at First Lutheran Church from 4-7 pm. Serving as pallbearers will be MSgt William Simmons (USAF), A1C Juan Chiriboga (USAF), Ssgt Brian Stoner (ANG) , William Bearson, Corey Fisher, Mitchell Noble, and Scott Bearson.
