Glorene Iverson

Glorene Joan Iverson passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2019 with her family at her side after a short illness of acute leukemia.

She was born December 15th, 1937 on the family farm in Elbow Lake, daughter of George and Martha (Cordes) Johnson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake.  She graduated from Elbow Lake High School.  After graduation she moved to Minneapolis where she worked at Hardware Mutual Insurance company. Early in her married life she worked at Gambles and Dekalb Seed Company in Alexandria.  She was also employed at District 206 for 28 years.

She married Loren Iverson on November 17, 1956 at St. Mary’s Church in Alexandria.  They were blessed with two daughters Kimberly Ann and Karen Marie.  Loren and Glorene were married 52 years before he passed away in 2009.  He never failed to pick lilacs for her every spring.

Glorene loved to travel and was able to visit all states except for Alaska and Hawaii.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, music, and crossword puzzles.

Her and Loren loved to dance, especially the waltz.  She loved her family dearly and was happiest when she was with them.

She is survived by Kimberly (Jeff) Thompson of Alexandria, Karen (Gary) Semmens, three grandchildren Nate, Annie and Tyler Semmens all from Grand Forks.

She was also survived by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Loren, parents, sister, brother, brothers and sisters-in law, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She will be dearly missed by all her knew her.  She touched so many lives.  Rest in peace.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria.  Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11th, 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home with Parish Prayers at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church. Full obituary to follow
