Gloria Mardell Lommen age 82 of Alexandria and Minneapolis, died on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2PM at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. A second funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 1 PM at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
OBITUARY
Gloria Mardell Lommen, the daughter of Alfred and Hannah (Dau) Lommen was born on July 3, 1933 in Alexandria, MN. She graduated from Central High School and worked for a short time at the JC Penney store. Gloria moved to Minneapolis and began working as a Reservation Agent with Northwest Airlines. She worked at the St. Paul office and then moved to the offices at MSP Airport. Gloria retired in 1993 after working 42 years for NWA.
Gloria loved to travel and especially enjoyed Hawaii and Korea as her choice vacation destinations. She was a member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and for many years she belonged to the “Gourmet Club” in the Twin Cities. They met regularly to eat good food and play card games. One of Gloria’s favorite card games was Blackjack. She and Orrin liked to go to the casino where she would try her luck at the Blackjack tables. Gloria also liked to play golf and she even fulfilled every golfer’s dream of a “Hole in One”. She was a strong woman with a quick wit and good sense of humor. She took great pride in her house and yard. She kept her home tidy and clean and her yard always looked immaculate. Her friends were important to her.
Gloria died on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Hospital at the age of 82 years old. She is survived by her loving brother Orrin Lommen of Alexandria. She is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Hannah Lommen, her brother Howard Lommen and her sister Donna Lommen.
