Gloria Agnes Therkildsen

Gloria was born on September 25, 1931, in Spruce Hill Township, the daughter of Peter and Katherine (Schlosser) Becker. The family moved to a farm in Belle River Township where she was raised and attended grade school at District 66. She graduated from Central High School in Alexandria in 1949. Runestone Electric Association employed Gloria in 1950, where she worked for 35 years at various positions. 

Gloria was united in marriage to Lloyd Iverson on October 17, 1950, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Alexandria. To this union, one daughter, Patricia, was born on February 14, 1959. Lloyd died on February 21, 1979. 

On November 24, 1984, Gloria married Warren Therkildsen. They lived at the Therkildsen farm north of Brandon on Stowe Lake. After Warren passed away in August of 1988, Gloria moved back to Alexandria where she lived until her death. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church since 1950. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, a Charter Member of the Daughters of Isabella, and a member of St. Mary’s Choir for 40 years. She was also an active member of the Eagles Club and was a past president. 

In her spare time, Gloria enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Atikwa Golf Club for many years. She loved gardening and had several flower gardens in her backyard. Gloria also enjoyed fishing, reading, doing puzzles, and traveling. She made trips to Europe, Alaska, Canada, Mexico and also throughout the United States. 

Gloria died on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at her home. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Turgeon; granddaughter, Harmony (Matt) Kaufenberg, grandson, Geoffrey Turgeon; great-grandchildren: Emily, James, David, Daniel, and Henry Kaufenberg, sisters: Junie (Bob) Friedrichs, Millie Garside, Mary Lou (Larry) Simpson; many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husbands, brother, Harland Becker; sister, Kathy Berg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
