Gordon 'Gordy' Elmer Jobe

October 25, 1936 — December 25, 2024

Alexandria, Minnesota

Gordon “Gordy” Elmer Jobe, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the Galeon in Osakis, Minnesota. He was 88 years old.

Born on October 25, 1936, in Alexandria, Minnesota, to Elmer Leo Jobe and Agnes Marie (Personius) Jobe, Gordy grew up in this wonderful community, which he would call home throughout his life. He graduated Alexandria High School before embarking on a remarkable military career.

He married Marlene Marusak in 1962 and their union was blessed with two wonderful children Nancy and Jeff. Gordy cherished the years they spent together until Marlene's passing in 1993. In 2016 Gordy had another chance at love and married longtime acquaintance and friend Janice Floding. They enjoyed eight wonderful years marriage.

His military career spanned two decades filled with many diverse adventures and experiences. He was stationed in various places from 1954 to 1974, including: Georgia, Alaska, Saudi Arabia, Germany, North Carolina, Washington, Korea, and Kansas. After a distinguished career, he finally retired back "home" in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Following his retirement from the Army, Gordy worked at Westerfeld Mobile, Calvary Church, Juettner Motors and Napa Auto Parts further demonstrating his unwavering work ethic and his dedication to serving his community.

He had a deep love for fishing — a favorite pastime that he pursued year-round and as often as he could. He generously shared his catch with many people who didn't have the opportunity to fish.

Gordy also had a unique ability to bring joy into the lives of those around him, often making people laugh with his particularly corny sense of humor.

He derived immense happiness from being surrounded by family and friends, notably celebrating his 88th birthday with loved ones was a highlight of his life.

Gordy is survived by his beloved wife Jan, daughter and son-in-law: Nancy and Mike Ziebarth, son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Lynn Jobe, brother Bruce Alm, sisters and brothers-in-law: Marilyn and Bill Renner; Donna and Rand Corle, Many nieces and nephews, cousins, close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Marlene Jobe, mother Agnes Alm, father Elmer Jobe, step father Melvin Alm, and brother Ray Alm.

The family would like to thank the Alexandria Hospice for all of their love and support they offered the past several months.

To all of his family and friends who have laughed at his constant jokes, helped in any way, stopped to say hi or kept him in your thoughts, we love you all!
