Gordy met the love of his life Jenice Engesser while playing pool at a family business in Green Valley, MN. He asked Jenice to marry him and on May 25, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, MN they were united in marriage. Five children were born to this union Todd, Tim, Toby, Tammy, and Troy.
Gordy worked for Ideal Brass as a screw operator in St. Paul and then drove his semi-truck cross country from Kenosha, WI to the west coast. Gordy spent the last 35 years of his working career with Schwans Ice Cream of Marshall, MN. He started on the route truck where he rapidly advanced through the company ranks, assuming jobs such as Depot Manager, Division Manager, Region Manager, National Sales Manager and eventually VP of Sales and Marketing before retiring on January 1, 1996.
The many hobbies of Gordy include golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and occasional trips to the casino. He also liked working in his yard, watching the MN Vikings and MN Twins, and watching his thoroughbred horses run races. Gordy kept active in the communities he lived by becoming a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pheasants Forever, and Lake Miltona Lake Association.
Spending time with his family and friends was very important to Gordy. He loved watching his kids and grandchildren with school related activities like dancing, wrestling, and other school sports and events.
