Gordon Wibstad, age 88, of Alexandria, died Thursday, March 10, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 18, 2016 at Living Waters Church in Alexandria. Interment will follow in the East Moe Cemetery at Garfield. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at church.
OBITUARY
Gordon Wibstad was born on February 21, 1928 to Simon and Nora (Gilbertson) Wibstad. After graduating from Brandon High School in 1946, he worked at the Universal Match Company in Spokane, WA. He then enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He returned to Brandon, Farming for several years. He was employed at Minneapolis Moline in Hopkins for a time, returned to Brandon and began working for Strom Construction. Gordon Married Joyce Peterson of Two Harbors, MN on November 7, 1953. While raising four children, Gordon not only farmed but also started working at Douglas Machine in 1968, retiring in 2002.
On Thursday, March 10, 2016 Gordon died at the age of eighty-eight years. He is survived by his wife, Joyce and all four children: Barbara Hunker (Donald), Beverly Truenow (David), Bonnie Fulghum (David), and Dale Wibstad (Karen), as well as 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Elroy Wibstad and one sister, Norma Scherrer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11AM Friday, March 18, 2016 at Living Waters Church in Alexandria. Reverend Sam McKay will officiate. Interment will follow in the East Moe Cemetery near Garfield. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and also one hour prior to the service at church.
