A great man, Harlan James Hadler, age 74, died at his home in Downtown Minneapolis on September 15, 2009 due to natural causes. Harlan also known as ?Harley? or ?Dad? was born July 24th 1935 South of Alberta, MN to Alfred and Edna (Bahnsen) Hadler. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Alberta High School in 1953. He then enlisted in the Army on November 15, 1954. Harlan was stationed in France and was involved in the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged on August 26, 1957. Harlan was united in marriage to Beatriz Hadler on January 20, 1982. To this union two daughters were born: Jennefer and Stephanie. Harlan was a very simple man. He definitely knew the value of the dollar and enjoyed clipping his coupons. He loved to play bridge, fish, read his Star Tribune newspaper, grow unbelievable gardens, working on the daily crossword puzzle, and dance with his soul mate, Twila. He was intelligent, talented and a handyman who could always find a practical way of fixing things. One of the many passions he had was lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He would drive all over the Twin Cities to provide rides to people who couldn't drive for medical appointments and personal errands. Mr. Hadler was also extremely mischievous and enjoyed making people around him laugh with his witty jokes. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennefer Hadler (Alexis James) of Minneapolis and Stephanie Hadler (Troy Barrett) of Alexandria; his ?love of his life,? Twila Wharten; Brother- Darrell Hadler (Vionne), Sister- Carol Hickman (George), Sister- Joyce Schulz (Dennis). The mother of his daughters, Beatriz Hadler. Preceded in death by his brother Wallace Hadler and parents Alfred and Edna Hadler. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2009, from 4-7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis
