Harlan Vincent Peterman was born October 4, 1918 in Underwood Township, Redwood County, Minnesota to Herbert and Millie (Baker) Peterman. He attended school through the tenth grade and joined the United States Air Force. Harlan was united in marriage to Emma Kaheiki on February 2, 1946 in Hilo, Hawaii. The couple moved to Hayward, CA in 1949 where Harlan worked for the Naval Supply Center in Oakland, CA. In 1972, the Peterman?s moved to Alexandria where they enjoyed luaus, family and friends. He loved fishing, shopping, bird watching, card playing and visiting with friends and family. Harlan died on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 90. He is survived by his daughters, Emma Jane Peterman and husband, Ted Alt; Shirley Ann Landon and husband, Bob; grandson, Winlaw Bramley; great-grandson, Christian Bramley; brothers, Glen Peterman, Herbert Peterman, Donald Peterman; sister, Carol Tollefson. Harlan is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma; brothers, Floyd Peterman, Virgil Peterman, Orville Peterman, and Harold Peterman; and sisters, Delaine Hanson, Lucille Kruise, Dorothy Hardy, and Gladys Olson. A funeral service was held on Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria with Reverend John Peshek officiating. Interment was held in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Randy Hardy, Matt Hardy, Tim Hardy, Bruce Wolforth, Greg Kohler and Chad Skogrand. Honorary casket bearer was Skip Gleiter. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
