Harland Dreger

June 10, 1938 — April 8, 1958

Harland Ervin Dreger was born June 10, 1938 in Carlos Township, MN, the son of Ervin and Lily (Schulke) Dreger. He grew up and attended school in Carlos Township. Following his schooling, Harland began doing carpentry work. In October of 1956, Harland went to work for Local Gas as an LP serviceman. On April 8, 1958, Harland was united in marriage to Delrose Klimek. The couple made their home in Alexandria and raised three sons, Bob, Mike and Dan. Harland began working for Ferrellgas in 1968. He completed his career with Ferrellgas, retiring in 1996. Harland continued working for a time with his brother Wayne in the heating and air-conditioning business. Harland was a member of the National Guard from 1955-1961. He was a former member of the Eagles Club. Harland was also a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was active and volunteered his time with the monthly Zion Tidings. Harland enjoyed fishing in the summer and winter. Deer season was always a favorite time of year, and Harland enjoyed many years at deer camp with his sons, friends and family. He taught his sons how to hunt and enjoy the outdoors. Harland liked to have fun; he was a bit of a jokester and could often be seen with a little smirk on his face. He had fun in deer camp, but ?what happens in deer camp stays in deer camp?. Harland also was interested in antique cars, putting together puzzles with his wife, listening to country music and an occasional trip to the casino. He loved time spent with his family. Harland loved to play games with his grandchildren and was very proud of them. His ever-present smile will be remembered by all who knew him. On Saturday, May 4, 2013 Harland died unexpectedly at his home at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Dreger of Alexandria; three sons, Bob Dreger and wife, Tracy, of Otter Tail, MN, Michael Dreger and friend, Cookie Woody, of Wadena, MN and Dan Dreger and wife, Lisa, of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Brody Dreger and Chassy Dreger; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Bratsch and Jeremiah Bratsch; three great grandchildren, Marissa, Thomias and Mya; and one bother, Wayne Dreger and wife, Verda, of Miltona, MN.
