Harold William Bartz was born on July 30, 1915 in Alexandria to Reverend Albert and Bertha (Schuneman) Bartz. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Harold graduated from Central High School in 1934 and did a correspondence course in radio. Harold was united in marriage to Louina Steinhorst on December 15, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. To this union the couple was blessed with three children; Roger, Jim, and Beverlee. Harold opened Bartz radio and TV service in 1938 and worked there until 1964. He then worked as an insurance salesman for Aid Association for Lutherans until he retired in 1985. Harold was very involved in the community; he was on the board at Bethany Home, Kinkead Cemetery, Board of Control for Concordia College in St. Paul, the Lutheran Laymens League, and was one of the original founders of KCMT TV in Alexandria. He also was very active with Zion Lutheran Church and the school. One of Harold?s favorite past times was golfing. Harold died on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 95. He is survived by his son, Jim Bartz of Wyoming, MN; daughter, Beverlee Schultz of Apple Valley; grandchildren, Jonathan Bartz, Shari (Chris) DeBraal, Monte (Jen) Schultz, Tina Schultz, Nicole Bigaouette and Katie Bigaouette; and great-grandchildren, Brady Bartz, Karly Bartz, Hannah Schultz, Timothy Schultz, Meghan Schultz and Elliana Schultz. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Albert and Bertha; wife, Louina; son, Roger; and brothers and sisters, Ruth Williams, Reverend Herbert Bartz, Carly Bartz and half sister, Pauline Roberts. A funeral service was held on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend David Hinz officiating. Music was provided by organist, Irma Brockberg. Interment was held in Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Jonathan Bartz, Monte Schultz, Ron Schneiderhan, Dennis Gronholz, Marv Elgie, Doug Starewicz. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
