Harriet Peters

Harriet Lenore (Niemala) Peters was born on August 15, 1924, in New York Mills, Minnesota the daughter of Philip and Alma Niemala. She attended school in New York Mills. After graduation Harriet moved to Seattle, Washington and worked to support the World War II effort. Harriet was united in marriage to Gerald Peters on March 29, 1945. To this union three children were born: Geri Ann, Mary, and Tim. Mrs. Peters was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her husband Gerald passed in 1990. After Gerald?s death Harriet moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be closer to family. Harriet died on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Omaha. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Geri Ann DeBolt and husband Marion, Omaha, Mary Tiarks and husband Warren of Des Moines, IA, and Tim Peters and wife Janet of Omaha. Other family members include grandson Tim and wife Stephanie Tiarks, Des Moines, and great-grandchildren Sabrina and Tim Tiarks, Des Moines. She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald, parents Philip and Alma, brother and sister, Arlie Niemala and Ethyl Niemala, and beloved granddaughter Jennifer Tiarks. There was a graveside service on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.
