Harriet Schwartz

October 3, 1923 — October 15, 2011

Harriet Schwartz, 88, died at Bethany Community in Alexandria, Minnesota on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Harriet Maxine Heuer was born October 3, 1923 at home near Donnelly, Minnesota, to Roy and Verna (Sutton) Heuer. She married Ralph Fynboh in January 1941. They farmed and raised three sons in Stevens County until Ralph's death in 1958. In 1965 she married Frank Schwartz of Canby, Minnesota, where they farmed and raised his twin daughters. Frank died in March 2002 and Harriet moved to Brandon, Minnesota in 2004. Harriet's greatest loves were her God and her family. She studied her Bible and sewed countless clothes, quilts and toys for her family until her eyesight failed. Her hands were always busy crocheting or knitting lovely afghans and doilies or cross-stitching beautiful pictures which were often given as gifts. Cooking, canning and baking were tasks she delighted in, as did those who tasted her goodies. She fulfilled the very definition of mother, housewife and friend. The family wishes to thank her friends at Bethany Community and Clearwater Suites for their care and comfort for Harriet over the past several years. Harriet was predeceased by her parents, both husbands, son, Dell Fynboh, and stepson, Raymond Schwartz. She is survived by two sons, Gene and Kathy Fynboh and Donald and Beverly Fynboh; daughter-in-law, Sally Anderson; step daughter-in-law, Louise Schwartz; and two step daughters, Kathy and Bruce Abel and Karen and Jeff Olson; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
