Harvey Navratil

March 31, 1940 — August 17, 2015

Harvey Alan Navratil was born March 31, 1940. He was one of eight children born to Louis and Barbara (Zeithamer) Navratil of Alexandria, MN. He worked on the family farm throughout his high school years. After graduation, Harvey enlisted in the Army and served his tour in Germany. He returned to Alexandria and was a foreman for Osakis Silo. He enjoyed building silos all over the state. He survived a life changing fall and was forced to change careers. He then went to Alexandria Technical College for Tool & Die and worked for Juno Tool & Plastics for 30 plus years until he retired.

Harvey married Nancy Wood of Osakis, MN on December 11, 1965. To this union two children were born, Glenn (Jen) Navratil of Craig, CO and Michelle (Todd) Klimek of Brandon, MN. Harvey’s favorite past time was spent with his family, whether playing cards, dice, ladder golf, bean bag toss, ice fishing or just telling jokes around the table. His other interests included gardening, canning, and baking pies. The smiles he brought to others gave him great joy. In the later years, he enjoyed reliving his farming memories by getting back in the tractors once again. When spending time with friends, he and Nancy, his wife of nearly 50 years, enjoyed golfing, bowling and dining out.

Harvey joined the Lord at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Barbara Navratil; step-mother, Ella Navratil; brother, Jim Navratil, and infant sibling.
