Hazel Harbig

Hazel was born on November 6, 1919, in McGregor, North Dakota, the daughter of Oscar and Mathilda (Anderson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in McGregor, North Dakota. She attended country grade school through the 8th grade. On March 21, 1939 Hazel was united in marriage to Melvin Harbig in Estevan Saskatchewan Canada. To this union four children were born. In 1942, the family moved from McGregor to Alexandria where they farmed and raised their four children. Hazel enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, gardening, baking, canning and spending time with family and friends. Hazel died on Saturday, August 31, 2013. She is survived by her four children: Marion Vickerman of Alexandria, Marlene (Philip) Paulson of Alexandria, Dallas (Rachel) of Alexandria, Carol (Darryl) Erickson of Kensington; eight grandchildren: Rodney, Brenda, Randy, Theresa, Dallas, Allisa, Kalsey, Justin; fourteen great grandchildren: Andrea, Sammy, Cassie, Amber, Darren, Russell, Leah, Zack, Irvin, Joey, Zoey, Sabella, Kalista, Kaleb; two great grandchildren: Brady & Peyton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents: Oscar & Mathilda, two sisters: Hilma & Myrtle; brother, Oliver; son-in-law, Donald Vickerman. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
