Helen Jane Wibstad Fearing Helen Jane Wibstad was born June 23, 1926 in Brandon, MN, the daughter of Simon and Nora (Gilbertson) Wibstad. She was raised and schooled at Brandon where she graduated from high school. Helen moved to the Twin Cities where she lived with her aunt. In the Cities she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone and also for National School Studios. Helen met Raymond Wold and the two were married on April 23, 1950. They made their home at Gaylord, MN where Ray farmed. The couple was blessed with four children, Jaynie, Julie, Jack, and John. Helen helped with the farm; she milked cows and looked after the other animals. In the late 1970?s Helen moved to Brandon. On June 17, 1989 she was united in marriage to Skip Fearing. The couple made their home in Alexandria, MN. In 2002 they moved to Starbuck, MN where they resided until Skip?s death in 2012. Helen returned to Alexandria and lived at the Nelson Gables. Helen enjoyed volunteering her time. She volunteered at the Alexandria schools as a grandmother and spent time mentoring children and reading to them. She also volunteered at nursing homes in Alexandria and Starbuck. She served the churches that she belonged to as a member of the Ladies aide. Helen had several hobbies throughout life. She loved to go dancing; music was something Helen really enjoyed. She also spent time drawing and quilting. She loved the outdoors. When she was able she traveled throughout the United States including trips to Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed fishing, cross-country skiing, ice-skating, softball and golfing. Any outdoor sports or activities interested Helen. On Wednesday, October 9, 2013 Helen died at the age of eighty-seven years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Skip Fearing; one brother, Ray Wibstad; and two sisters, Eleanor Burgess and Irene Anderson. Helen is survived by her four children, Jaynie Ecker and husband, Tom, of Troy, TX, Julie Harrington and husband, Mike, of Summerville, SC, Jack Wold and wife, Beverly, of Safety Harbor, FL, and John Wold and wife, Bonnie, of Gaylord; grandchildren, Jessica Wilkins, Justin Bussler, Carissa Overcash, Jaynie Little, Alexis Roe, Darick Wold, Danielle Frey, Melissa Frey, Jayden Ecker, Jaymia Ecker and Kylee Ecker, great grandchildren, Maile, Kaia, Cade, Caleb, Addison, Ava, Layla, and Brayden; brothers, Elroy Wibstad of Brandon and Gordon Wibstad and wife, Joyce, of Brandon; ister, Norma Sherrer of Brandon; and step-children, Linda Drew of Concord, NH, Kathy Lantry of Newport, RI and David Fearing of Goffstown, NH.. A memorial service was held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Paul Johnson officiated. Shari Opdahl organist and Paula Leske, soloist. Honorary casket bearers included all of Helen?s grandchildren. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
