OBITUARY Helen Jean Blawd Hubbell was born July 27, 1924, in Warren, Minnesota the daughter of Mildred Edna Halfshal and Harold Blawd. Helen graduated from Alexandria High School in 1942 during the swing era. She was united in marriage to Russell Walter Hubbell in November of 1942. Together they raised three children Connie, Robin, and Richard. Helen lived in the Moorhead and Alexandria area most of her life. She worked in retail for a number of years and liked to go bowling sew, and swing dancing. She was a good cook and liked to bake, especially angle food cakes. She was involved with the Eagles, boy scouts, and campfire girls. Helen J. Hubbell died on Friday, November 6, 2009 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her daughters Constance J. Williams (husband Tony) of Marietta, GA; Robin R. Schoeneck (husband Robert) of Alexandria, MN; son Richard R. Hubbell (wife Gail) of Minneapolis, MN; brother Butch Blawd (wife Barbara Angelo) of Minneapolis, MN; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren nieces and nephews and cousins. These are some pet names that Helen used for her family and her pets during her lifetime. Some of these names will evoke memories and raise questions from others not in the know. Bunny, Tissy, Hubbell, Purpe, Nuffers, Birdie, Tootsie Roll, Taffy, Terry and Governor, The Greek, Pogo, Tuffer, Sinders, Smokey, Grandpa Bear, Grammy Bear, Buggs, Smarty. A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church with the Reverends Terry Finnern and William F. Moeller officiating. Mertice Brueske was the organist and Lisa Henrichs was the soloist. Inurnment was in the Kinkead Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were Lisa, David, Christopher, Benjamen, Zachary, Amanda, Jonathan, Rob, Shelli, Marty, and Nicole. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria.
