Helen Elizabeth Iversen was born on June 8, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Chester and Roselia (Scholass) Solsvig. She graduated from Robinsdale High School and then went to the University of Minnesota and received a Bachelor’s Degree and earned a nursing degree. She did her internship in Fergus Falls. Helen was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when she was 20. She was blessed with two daughters, Laurie and Melanie.
Helen was very active with Bethesda Church and was a devoted Christian. She enjoyed watching parades, musicals and the news to keep up on current events. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Helen died on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Bethany Home in Alexandria at the age of 85. She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Notch of Portland, Maine and Melanie Hanson of Alexandria; grandchildren, Benjamin (Sara) Erie, Rachel Erie, Hannah (Ian) Ingebretson, and Elias Hanson; great grandchildren, Nia Erie and Cain Severson. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Roseila; sister, Edith Marberger; and brothers, Russell Solsvig and Donald Solvsig.
A memorial service will be held 1 PM at Bethany Home with Reverend Scott Keehn officiating. Inurnment was at Lincoln Cemetery in Hoffman, MN.
