Helen Kuester

Helen Jane Peterson was born on November 30, 1930 on a farm near Brandon, MN to Alfred and Amelia (Hedeen) Peterson. She was baptized at St. Luke’s in Garfield and confirmed at Chippewa Lutheran in Brandon. Helen graduated from Brandon High School. She started writing poetry in grade school and enjoyed that all her life.

Helen was united in marriage to Wayne Kuester on February 7, 1949. The couple was blessed with six children. Over the years Helen babysat children of nurses and teachers. Rented rooms to Tech students for many years and was employed at the Baumbach and Williams Drugstore, Mustard Seed and was a Paraprofessional at Washington Elementary School with the EBD/Special Needs children. In the later years Helen and Wayne camped and wintered in Arizona for a few years. Helen also wrote 3 poetry books and 1 kids organizational book.

Helen passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the age of 91. with family by her side. She leaves behind her 6 children: Steven (Becky), Michael, Lonnie, Barbara (Greg Terhark), Diane (Joe Maus), and Joel special friend (Diane Dilts); grandchildren: Stephanie Revering, Stacie (Art Witschorik), Greg (Haylie) Terhark, Jordan Terhark, Nicola (Mike Alama), Nicole Dilts; great-grandchildren: Brandon (Kayla) Watt, Emily Alama, Madison, Wade, and Sam Revering, Arthur, Owen, and Helena Witschorik, Rylee and Brooklyn Terhark; sister-in-law: Marilyn (Richard Groth); and several nieces and nephews. Helen’s dear ones that have gone before her: husband: Wayne; brother: Vernon Peterson (Mildred); sisters: Doris (Lambert Hanson), Laura (Walter Anderson), and Grace (Leland Bennett); parents: Alfred and Amelia Peterson; son-in-law: Steven Meggers; parents-in-law: Rev. Herman. and Florence Kuester; brother-in-law: David (Gen) Kuester.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 26,2022 at 11:00 with visitation one hour prior at New Life Christian Church in Alexandria, MN.
